The San Diego Rescue Mission Board of Directors, Staff, and the real clients being restored in our care all appreciate your participation to make Sleepless San Diego 2011 a huge success!
The new location at Liberty Station, combined with approximately 30% more San Diegans in attendance, produced a new level of excitement and energy for our 5th Annual sleepout. New components included:
Homeless Fact Scavenger Hunt
Videos highlighting the current plight of homeless children and teens (who looked just like the young people at Sleepless!)
the Skateboard Demo Area
the best entertainment line-up ever, including headliner Phil Wickham!
All this resulted in more young people and families coming out to the event. The entertainment helped to bring them there, yet throughout the day they were also equipping themselves to understand homelessness better and learning ways to be involved year round to do something about it.
The financial success of this year's Sleepless was especially encouraging and only possible through caring sponsors like you. More than $30,000 was raised to restore hope and healing to the 330+ homeless men, women, and children at San Diego Rescue Mission. Also encouraging was a 20% increase in corporate sponsorship dollars!
Thank you San Diego for making Sleepless possible so that we can continue to mobilize our city and county for this worthy cause. Together, we will continue to reduce homelessness and help San Diegans in need recover – one man, woman, and child at a time.
